Signals & Intent Data

If you're a sales leader, you would've noticed the buzz around signals and intent data. I decided to quickly write down what are the most basic signals you can use to get better responses and build better lists and how to use them.

Send this to your SDR team and tell them to implement this asap.

The best outbound has 3 great factors:
1. Leads list built on top of the right signals and intent showcased by the user
2. Filtering out the correct leads that actually fit your ICP
3. An outreach message that's relevant and personalized

Sending the right messages to the right users at the right time ensures that you get higher positive responses, even after sending fewer messages.

Valley helps you with intent and crafting the right message, but what are some ways to use the right signals to know who's even worth reaching out to?

5 Signals

Here's a list of 5 signals that you can implement right now for free and how to use them consistently to get better results on your outbound.

Use Folk's free Chrome extension to scrape people who have interacted with posts in your niche

Folk has a completely free extension that allows you to get a list of users who have engaged with certain LinkedIn posts. By choosing the right posts, you can find people who are potentially in the market for your product.

How to use it:

- Make a list of LinkedIn creators who are followed by your ICP and generally post engaging and useful content.
- Keep an eye on posts made by your competitors showcasing certain product features that you also enable.
- Bookmark popular posts in your niche that talk about the things your ICP cares about.

Every week - scrape 5-10 of these posts, add them to a Google sheet, and clean that list. You can then manually filter them out based on who's a right fit for your company and send them a message.

Or add them to a Valley campaign, have Valley automatically score them, and craft relevant messages.

2. Use Ocean IO to find look-alike companies of your best users and send them a personalized message

Ocean IO's free trial will allow you to find companies that are extremely similar to companies that are already a great fit for your ICP.

How I use this:
- Every month, take out a list of 5 of our best users who are most happy with Valley
- Add their website to Ocean Io and find lookalike companies in the US
- Find contact details for the right ICP in those companies
- Send them a hyper-relevant message showcasing the case study of our best user
- Send a personal loom video talking to them.

This takes a lot of manual effort but gets incredible results.

3. Use BuiltWith to find companies that use a technology you complement or compete with

BuiltWith allows you to find companies that use a certain technology. If you help users with Salesforce, find companies that use Salesforce and reach out to them. If you compete with a popular tool, send them a message showcasing how you're better.

4. Octoparse, Apify, and other scrapers.

Use websites like Octoparse and Apify to find free scrapers and scrape websites and directories where your ICP lives.

- Scape followers of a company on LinkedIn or people who follow a certain Instagram creator who talks about your niche.
- Scrape Google Maps to find local businesses that may benefit from your product.
- Scrape job boards and directories to find users.

5. Monitor champions and connections using Phantom Buster or Wiza's monitor tool.

You don't sell to companies, you sell to people. If there are current users who love your product, add them to a tool that monitors for job changes and announcements. This allows you to track your champions and becomes an easier way to get your foot in the door when they join a new company.

- Upload all current users
- Upload a list of all your LinkedIn connections
- Upload a list of supporters and friends in the industry

Send this to your outbound team, have them set this up, and create a cadence on how this is run.
