I honestly don't think that I would have stuck with the newsletter ghostwriting studio concept if I didn't have Valley because there's so many people that can do this and there's no way to reach the few people that know they need it and can't do it themselves unless you're casting a really wide net."

CHALLENGES
Solo founder needed to scale personalized outreach for hyper-niche newsletter ghostwriting service
Saanya Ali launched SaanSerif with a clear vision: help founders build authentic connections with their audiences through newsletter ghostwriting that captures their unique voice and storytelling style. Unlike generic content agencies, SaanSerif focuses on the nuanced art of founder-led content, writing newsletters that sound like they came directly from the founder's mind, complete with their favorite metaphors, personal anecdotes, and authentic voice.
"If a company tells you that they're the best, why would you trust them? Of course they're going to say that," Saanya explains. "But if a founder tells you that they came up with a pivot idea while they had food poisoning and they were on the bathroom floor and it's because they didn't have their phone and you hear the whole story, you're more likely to be like, you know what, I've had food poisoning too and I also have come up with my best ideas in weird ways."
The challenge was finding the right founders who understood the value of newsletter marketing and needed help executing it. Newsletter marketing delivers 40% more effectiveness than any other digital marketing channel, with ROI ranging from $36 to $42 per dollar invested. But most founders either don't know they need this service or assume they can handle it themselves.
As a solo founder starting from zero, Saanya faced the classic chicken-and-egg problem: she needed clients to prove the concept, but she needed a way to reach qualified prospects at scale. Her initial clients came through personal connections - friends and referrals - but that wasn't a scalable approach.
The manual prospecting approach would have been unsustainable. Crafting personalized newsletter ideas for thousands of prospects one by one, researching their companies, understanding their voice and brand, it would have required casting an impossibly wide net with no guarantee of results. "There's a chance that I reached out to 5,000 people and not a single one got back to me because I'm doing it by hand," Saanya notes.
What she needed was a way to deliver immediate value in her outreach - showing prospects exactly what SaanSerif could do for them while reaching the right founders at scale.

SOLUTIONS
Valley enables hyper-personalized newsletter pitch generation at scale across niche founder segments
Saanya took an unconventional approach to implementing Valley, going against the traditional top-down sales navigation methodology. Instead of building broad lists and filtering down, she went bottom-up with laser-focused targeting.
"I had a very specific idea of the companies that I wanted to reach out to and the very niche demographics and industries," Saanya explains. "And so rather than doing a top-down sales nav, kind of weeding out things, I went bottom up and I was like, this is who I want to reach out to."
Building Hyper-Targeted Campaign Lists
Her approach involved creating multiple highly specific campaigns targeting different founder segments: CPG and D2C founders, wellness and travel space companies, PR and marketing agencies, advertising and entertainment agencies. For each segment, she used Clay to generate seed lists of 50 ideal companies, then expanded those to 200 similar prospects per campaign.
"I put into Clay a list of companies, probably 50 or so companies that are in the ilk of the company that I would want to reach out to and said, create me a list of 200 and then put those in batches," she describes. This manual curation took significantly more upfront work, but it paid off by ensuring every prospect was pre-qualified and aligned with her ICP.
Value-First Messaging Strategy
What set Saanya's Valley implementation apart was her messaging approach. Instead of generic outreach asking for meetings, she used Valley to generate specific newsletter ideas tailored to each prospect's business and industry.
"In the messages that I wanted to send as outreach, I didn't want to just say, hey, I liked your post on XYZ, here's what I do, can I help? I wanted to provide help right away to show that there's a reason that they should take a bet on me," she explains.
Valley's AI research capabilities allowed her to analyze each prospect's business, industry challenges, and content gaps, then generate specific newsletter series ideas, titles, or topics that would resonate with their audience. "I love that I was able to tell Valley come up with a newsletter idea or series idea or title or topic. And that would go out in some of the campaigns that I had."
Multi-Campaign Approach with Different Voices
Saanya leveraged Valley's flexibility to create different messaging styles for different founder types. "There isn't a formula to this. There wouldn't be a formula to walking around a cocktail party and talking to people. So why would there be a formula here?" she notes.
For tech founders, she used more direct, point-focused messaging. For wellness and lifestyle founders, she adopted a warmer, more conversational tone. Each campaign had different rules, writing styles, and levels of formality tailored to the specific audience.
She also experimented with Valley's warm list features, running one campaign targeting founders who had engaged with newsletter platform posts - ensuring she reached founders who were already thinking about newsletter marketing.
The result was immediate value delivery at scale: every prospect received a personalized newsletter concept they could implement immediately, demonstrating Sans Serif's capabilities while providing actionable value upfront.
RESULTS
SaanSerif doubled MRR while building a sustainable client acquisition engine
In just 30 days with Valley, Saanya transformed SaanSerif from a referral-dependent startup into a pipeline generation machine. The results were immediate and consistent: 16 qualified meetings booked in the first month, with every single call converting into a productive conversation.
"I'm shocked with how well it works. Almost too well. It's really created a monster, but in the best way," Saanya shares. "Every single call has been has gone really well. None have been duds. And so that means that I feel like I've really found through Valley the people that I should be reaching out to."
pipeline generated in first month: $480K+
qualified meetings booked: 16
MRR growth in 30 days: 2x
The meeting quality was exceptional because Valley's targeting helped her reach founders who already understood the value of newsletter marketing. "I was able to reach out to the people that already knew that having a newsletter matters right now," she explains. "So I wasn't convincing them of anything."
Revenue Impact and Pipeline Generation
From those 16 meetings, Sans Serif closed three new clients within the first month, with contracts ranging from $1,000 to $4,000 monthly retainers. The closed clients span diverse industries, child psychology and neuroplasticity, game design, and health tech and AI - proving the versatility of her newsletter approach.
With an average contract value of $2,500 per month ($30,000 annually), the 16 qualified meetings represent $480,000 in annual pipeline generated in just 30 days. This pipeline generation allowed Sans Serif to double its MRR from $4,000 to $8,000 in the first month.
Operational Excellence as a Solo Founder
Valley's automation enabled Saanya to maintain her preferred operating model as a solo founder. "A lot of these calls, people ask if I want to scale and hire a team and my answer is no. I wouldn't want to hire someone because they would get to do the part that I like, which is the research and the writing, and that is why I do what I do," she explains.
The platform allowed her to cast a wide net while maintaining the personal touch that makes SaanSerif unique. Instead of manually researching and crafting individual pitches for thousands of prospects, Valley handled the scale while preserving the personalization and value-first approach that drives her conversion rates.
Quality Over Quantity Approach Validated
The results validated Saanya's hypothesis about hyper-targeted outreach. By focusing on quality prospects who already understood the value proposition, she achieved a 100% meaningful conversation rate, every booked meeting resulted in a productive discussion, with three converting to closed deals.
"Each call helps me refine that more and more," she notes, describing how Valley's targeting capabilities allowed her to continuously improve her ICP definition and messaging approach based on real prospect feedback.
Looking forward, Saanya plans to expand her Valley campaigns to additional founder segments while maintaining her focus on quality over quantity. "Being able to stay as a one-woman team is really nice for me," she concludes, emphasizing how Valley enables sustainable growth without compromising the personal attention that defines SaanSerif's service.
